I don’t think I really understand that one. In the original one, it is “Poland cannot into Espace.” which makes sense because Poland has no space program. But this one is more puzzling; why is Renault “cool” but Citroen not? Is it supposed to be the automakers that offer minivans? But Porsche has never had an MPV and Citroen has had the Evasion, the C8, etc. I must be missing something.

Probably because Citroën and Renault were rivals, so Citroënball doesn’t want to be seen riding a car made by its nemesis, Renaulball.

Well maybe it hints at the first Espace being intended to be a Talbot, then still a Chrysler UK brand, as a replacement for the Talbot-Matra/Matra-Simca Ranchero. Chrysler UK, including Talbot and Simca, was sold to PSA Peugeot Citroën while the Espace was being developed, and deemed the Espace too expensive, and said Matra could have the idea, since Matra was already affiliated in the development. Matra then took the idea to Renault with which they finished the design.

But then again it should really have been Peugeot, since PSA came about when Peugeot bought Citroën from Michelin.

True, but what about Toyota, with the Previa which competed in the same field?

True, I hadn’t thought of that aspect of the story! Thanks for the reminder!
